You mentioned melting of the ice caps. Don't you think that would turn NY to a part of the ocean bottom.

Global warming only lasts so long- when the ice caps melt- it causes a major drop in oceanic temperatures- which forces us into an ice age- which in turn causes the ice caps to freeze up again.
It's Cyclical people- even if we were helping the cause- the Earth has the capacity to right itself again. We just don't have that much power over the climate- if we did we would be able to change the paths of hurricanes, or make it rain in drought conditions, or countless other things.
Oh, and one more question you should all ask yourself- what happened to the horrible hurricanes we were gonna get this year? After all, the rise in temperatures in the caribbean was going to cause all kinds of chaos, wasn't it?
Stop believing those who want to scare you so they can make a living without actually contributing to society.

Most scientists reckon that if much more fresh water enters the N. Atlantic, it will cause the thermohaline circulation to either shift or crash out completely, so New York will get a hell of a lot colder, think Day After Tomorrow type scenario, though weither it would happen that quickly or not would be a point for debate. As previous people would say melting of the Antartica Ice means at least 30 metres rise in sea level, so get your scuba gear out.

NO! Global warming isn't COOL!!! New York could be flooded and underwater if we don't do something! The problem is millions of people and creatures will die, and the melting will flood the coastal states forcing people to move more into the inner part of the states. ALSO, animals who need snow, will die because of the harsh energy change. You can help this by using the energy saving lights, carpooling, getting high bird cars, turn of the lights, TV, or computer when your not using them, and spread the word! DO research to find out more of how u can help! Don't wait. If all people are like this we couldn't stop global warming, but at least slow it down.

You people all need to get a grip. The earth has been around for billions of years and has undergone countless climate changes, from heating to cooling and back again. We've been able to measue changes for a few hundred years and we're all set to declare doomsday because we measure a few tenths of a degree difference. This is like putting a magnifying glass on a tiny sliver of a sine curve and declaring disaster.
Global Warming is a scare tactic of the environmental lobby. I haven't seen Al Gore trade in his limousine for a Yugo yet. Brad and Angelina still jet off to Africa to pose with starving children.
Concentrate on conserving resources and using energy wisely. The rest is up to Mother Nature.

new york will not be tropical becuase there are way to many buildings and towers for that.....global warming will most likely affect places with little or no buildings........besides, have u ever seen a house in a forest?...........and if new york had nothing than it would take atleast ten years to be like aruba......not a few years.

incorrect ,actually global warming will cause much of north America to become ...COLDER!!!... because the cold water from the melting icecaps will divert the warm flow of the gulf stream away from the coast...as well as causing sea levels to rise...which would make much of new york like northern Canada, as well as being underwater
