The people in the US have always had their opinions, there were anti-war rallies through the 60's and early 70's. Hawks and Doves.

In a country, where there is freedom of speech, people use it.

At least now it is verbal, back then there were riots squads, hoses, gas and guns.

Well, the U.S. politics have never been the most peaceful. But at least noone's been beaten on the floor of the senate here recently. I wish I could remember exactly who it was that did get beaten. It's escaping me at the moment, though. :(
