Use binary numbers. A raised finger is a one, and a finger folded down is a zero. Your fingers, from right to left, represent 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 , 32, 64, 128, 256, and 512. All fingers down is zero. All fingers up is 1023. There is a unique combination of fingers up and down for every number in between.

Well, every 10 fingers would equal 10 numbers, so just hold up both hands in front of you, with all fingers out, and county by 10, and every time you go up ten, clap your hands to let you know you are going up 10 more. When you get to 1020, use three other fingers.
