The conceptual roof design was intended to envoke the image of upturned boats of a sandy Scottish beach. That's why it's always leaking and full of flotsam, talking bilge.

To most who have answered this question, I say, jealously is a terrible thing.
If one wishes to compare it, say with the Houses of Parliament , that is the building in Westminster that visitors to London come to view, it is easily identified, it is the old and grotesque building surrounded with huge concrete blocks. Soooo pretty.
I wonder if the blocks are made of granite and imported from Aberdeen in Scotland?
Guy Fawkes had the right idea.lol.

Aye good Tee-Jay.
It's in Edinburgh.
Good to see the king of the Nigels (Skillman) back with his five hundredth mention of the kilt.
For those who have not encountered this sad case, he usually comes to the Scottish Football section and talks rubbish about....well, kilts usually.
To the architecture;
Most people here are pretty stupid so their opinions are therefore not valid, particularly as they do not qualify their reasoning.
Most non-conformist architecture attracts bad publicity.
Sydney Opera House.
National Wallace Monument.
And even older ones such as the Hoover building in Perivale which was almost demolished twenty years ago but is now revered as classic Art Deco.
A modern nation needs a modern parliament building and some of us are working hard to make this our official seat of government.
Yes it went over-budget and yes there was ONE roof beam that was not properly secured.
In a hundred years it will be admired by all.
There will still be nutters around (the children of the children of nutters on here) but the parliament will be something to be proud of.

It's a monstrosity! I was hoping they would design a regal, grand building that would stand the test of time! It doesn't fit in with the surrounding area whatsoever.
Who wants a funky looking building for a Parliament! It makes me sick to my stomach to think of the amount of money spent on that building.

It is the biggest trick they ever played on us, and as usual we allowed them to get away with it. When will we ever learn?
This building is a monument, it is LIVING PROOF that we Scots are totally incapable of ever governing ourselves.
I feel ashamed every time I think about that building .
One thing I will say though, the acoustics in the debating chamber are amazing.
