After Maradona buried them in 86' should England still be considered a powerhouse or a just a sideshow waiting to be eliminated?

Are you a complete moron? If England stopped playing football, where would all the old rivalry's go? The great grudge matches against Argentina and Germany, the friendlies against...well...ummm...i'm sure we're friendly against some teams..maybe Poland.
Without English footy the natural world would come to a standstill, after all we have been playing footy in England since medieval times......as stated in Wikipedia "All football games involve scoring with a spherical or prolate spheroid ball by moving the ball into, onto, or over a goal area or line defended by the opposing team. Many of the modern games have their origins in England!
Without England there would be no football.....
And as for the Americans...well there just not very good at it!!!

What planet have you come from. Of course England should be allowed to play football. Maradona is a cheat. The whole world saw him handle the ball in the "hand of God" incident except the referee and linesman. Of course he went on to become a fat drug taking has been. I would not say England is a powerhouse in world football but they are always in with a shout. They have players who would get into most international teams in the world such as Gerrard Rooney and Terry. You mention the USA. They have and never will be a world force in football.

English people is the father of modern football that the most popular sport in today world. without England in international football, players around the world will start to play football with hand instead of foot.
England football is still the powerhouse no matter in national team or club or league. England national team never missed FIFA World Cup final tournament since 1998 and they made it to quarterfinal twice in last 3 appearances. they were in European Championship final since 1988 and was in semi-final in 1996. England national team currently is rank 4 in FIFA World ranking. there are not more than 10 country football teams have better performance than England.
there are many well known football clubs from England including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and more. these clubs had achieve amazing result that no other countries' club ever made it including UEFA champions League, UEFA Cup, and World Cup Championship.
English Premier League is the world's most popular and most watched sporting league with more than billion supporters. beside that, English FA cup is the oldest football competition in the world created by English people and afterward FA cup became popular in worldwide and many countries use the same format in their local football competition.
after all the fact i point up there, there is no doubt that England football is important in international arena and they are still the powerhouse in all levels of football competition.

MARADONA is one of the best players I've ever known and he sure kicked ENGLAND'S A*$ in the 86'. But that doesn't mean ENGLAND should be out of order. They still have a lotta power so they should be in. But, beware ENGLAND coz the new MARADONA of ARGENTINA, THE MESSIAH of ARGENTINA will surely make a replay of what happened during the 86' and is gonna kick ENGLANDS A*$ again, just like DIEGO did in the 86'!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it is not fun to watch a team humiliate themselves but we do need to realize that despite England's recent performances they still qualify for major events. So I say that until they can no longer qualify they should be allowed to play.

personally, i believe that England is a formitable team in football. as far as powerhouse goes, i dont think so, but they are a good team overall. = / i just wish España would do better on the national level....and Portugal.....
