If you believe in the devil then you must believe in God. A belief in God is a good thing as his first rule is to love him and if you do, he can grant you eternal life. If you're not worried about that now then you are very young. Expect that your thinking will change in time. I remember as a child being afraid of dying as it would seem like a dark place. The second rule from God is to "love thy neighbor"... Now is that really a bad thing? Imagine if only half off the worlds population would do that... how wonderful this place might be.
It is good that you ask the question or wonder why... that makes you one cut above some one would simply get immotional and lacks a level of critical thinking.
In all that you do... ask why? and do the research to find out why. Don't simply go by what you hear or what people tell you.

If god really was a devil? Then suddenly, the stuff in the old testament would make perfect sense!

That would be the biggest trick ever pulled on mankind. In many cultures outside of christianity the so called devil is represented as a trickster.

what's to say that your god and my god are one in the same. you've assumed we worship the same god. moreso, if i don't worship a god then what does it matter if he's a devil. i didn't believe in him to begin with.
