Pap tests are not 100% reliable, and what he once thought was one thing he is having second thoughts. He wants to be sure, although I find it a little confusing too because when my pap smear came back with abnormal cells, I was sent straight toa professional to have these cells removed by laser. I didnt have to go through so many pap tests. I dont know why the need for another pap test....the best person you can ask is your gynocologist. He should have really told you everything, and if you were confused about anything then you have a right to ask. A lot of people think medical professionals know everything, but in a lot of cases all they do is make guesses, hence them sending you for tests to confirm what they think or rule it out. Dont just assume anything with any medical professional, ask as many questions as you like...doesnt matter whether you keep him in conversation for a half hour, as long as you walk out of his office being fully informed. Remember you are paying him for his services, therefore you need to be totally informed. I would ring his office up and ask for an explanation because I know I would be confused and he is the only one who will be able to give you the information you need. You are not showing any kind of ignorance, you are normal, he is the expert and he is the only one who can tell you. Its not fair to keep on sending you for test after test if you dont know why you are going. It costs money, and he needs to inform you properly. He hasnt done this, which in turn is worrying you. He only did half his job, ring him up so he can complete his job. Dont be put off by the receptionist, tell her you need an explanation from your gynocologist urgently, and you will hold the line until you can speak to him/her. If you cant speak to him then and there tell the receptionist you expect him to call you the first moment he is free, and give your number. If he hasnt rung within an hour, ring again. This is a very worrying time for any woman...I know I was scared sh.....less. Get your information from the mouth of the person who has told you what to do. Thats the only way you are going to be sure.

this sounds a bit unusual to me. the pap is only a screening test, it does not tell the whole story-it is the biopsy that tells what is actually going on. so, you already had the biopsy-the more definitive test, and now they want to pap you again-a screening test again?? does not make sense to me. if you said they wanted to do another biopsy i could see that. in addition, the pap does not diagnose dysplasia per se, the pap was either read as low grade or high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion- which corresponds to the dysplasia which is seen on the biopsy. either way, chances of having cancer are slim to none as you have had colpo and biopsy so dont worry about cancer. if you have mild, moderate or severe dysplasia you can follow it if mild and cure it with a minor surgical procedure if mod or severe. if i had the actual pap reading and biopsy results i could be of more help.

The term "plasia" means growth. Cervical dysplasia means disordered growth. It is easier to understand cervical dysplasia if we first examine the normal cervix. When we look at the lining of the normal cervix under a microscope we see layers of cells. The normal distribution is that the bottom layer is made of round young cells. As the cells mature they rise to the surface and flatten out, so that on the surface the cells are flat.

Hello...Ernestro W, (:
If I were you I would see another doctor and say nothing about about what your doctor found and said to you, and see what happen from there. But don't wait to long. Then you will know for sure. I would take your pap test very serious. Have a nice day.
Love yourself and Love God.
Sincerely, J . (:

That has happened to me. It is more of a precaution type of thing. Worst case they will send you for a leep procedure for further tests. This hurts but it could just be a type of infection in your system.
