Just curious. I love the look of the upturned collar on women, so I just wondered where it started.

I think either for feel or look; most likely look. Some girls wear uncomfortable clothes for looks; hey if comfort goes out the door then perhaps you can rule out warmth or feel... I don't know how it originated but it circulated somehow by the music industry or something like that... I heard several people talking about it like last year...

Definitely the look, or maybe to hide a hickey....(haha) It's been around since the 50's. It was an attitude thing and made one look cool.....
