It might be too late to help for your class, but if you send me your e-mail address I will gladly send you a document where I have tons of games. It is too big to post here-over 150 pages- so if you are interested send me your address.

Well, seeing as you posted the question 17 hours ago, this might not be of help... but for NEXT time... there are some simple ideas that can keep kids pretty engaged. First of all, though, it depends on what subject the class is. I am an English teacher, so most of our games are vocabulary and grammar games, but they could be adapted to most other material with a little creativity...

1. You can make little cards out of index cards, and at the top is the key word, and below it is a list of words that are often associated with the Key word. Divide the students into groups of 4, and have them play "Taboo"... they must describe the Key word, so that one of the other two guess it, but they cannot say ANY of the words on the card. One person listens carefully to see if they say a "Taboo" word.

2. Another GREAT game that I love is pictionary... use new words or phrases from their current studies and divide the class into two teams (A) and (B). Write the words on index cards and have a person from team A come up to draw the thing on the card (NO speaking) the others must guess. Team B doesnt get to guess until time is up (usually 60 seconds). Then it's team B's turn... If you have a large group, divide them into two or three sets of kids playing the game, so that everyone participates. The best situation is about 4 - 6 people on a team.

3. If it is a maths class, play maths BINGO: cards with numbers in each space (make sure you know which numbers you are trying to get to), and say simple equations, 4+3. If a student has "7" on their card, they cross out that square, until they have 5 in a row.

4. Have the students break up into groups and produce a news broadcast reporting different aspects of what they are learning. Include interviews of famous people, or "experts"

Anyways, these are just a few ideas to get your mind rolling... I hope that you find them useful, and I hope your class went well!
