I applied twice to a company and both times I was in the top 2 but they chose the other person over me.

Keep on trying, as it is a company that you always want to work for (unless they advertised as such that ''past unsuccessful applicants need not apply again''). Life is a game of numbers. Everytime you tried, it brings you closer to the winning line. Hopefully they took notice of your numerous attempts and your keen interests. In the battle between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins. Perseverance ;-)

Applying will only take you so far, and many companies have programs to screen out repeat applicants. The HR department is most likely nothing more than a filter for key words on resumes.

Recruiters can be helpful sometimes, but they have an agenda as well. They make their money from commissions and the position that they might want you to fill is not necessarily what you desire or is best for you. The turn over rate in their field is extremely high, i.e. high burn out/low success. I have had some success with them, but the majority of positions I found on my own.

The best way to get into any company is to network. Ask around your friends, business contacts, Church, or other group that you belong to. Find a person that already works with that company and develop a relationship with him/her. They can then put you in contact with someone in the proper department who can actually make a decision.

Keep after it, be persistent, and don't get discouraged if you don't succeed at first. Abraham Lincoln had a string of campaign failures a mile long before he ever got elected to anything, and it took 20 year old Debbi Fields (Mrs. Fields' Cookies) hard work and determination to overcome the discouragement of her own parents and friends before she could succeed.

Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do, honey, YOU CAN MAKE IT!!!

As often as they allow AND you need to find a recruiter for the company so that you can express your interest and FAX him / her your resume. If you don't know where to begin to find the recruiter call their 1800 number and tell them what you are doing. They wont think your crazy they will give you the info. .

Good luck!
