I think it is because they are public figures and they should be role models to young people

I agree even though I'm not a fan of Britney Spears or any body else like that but it's so pointless and time consuming when u have more important stuff to do and someones spends a hour trashing someone they don't even know. Not cool even if they do know 'em but even worse when they don't cuz there's no real evidence u know. But ur right people should conentrate on their own life an not Britney Spears or anyone else.

pointless, yes, maybe. Personally, I trash Celebrities because I'm sick to death of hearing every little tidbit about their life. I mean, yesterday on Yahoo, one of the breaking news headlines was, "Hilton and Ritchie seen together at a restaurant." I mean, honestly, how ridiculous is that? Celebs like Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears are getting more media coverage than the real news stories are.
And I don't want to hear anyone say, "Well that's just the media making a big deal. Brittney and her husband are just trying to be normal people."
Because that argument holds no water with me. See, Brittney Spears was hired by her record label. They made her a star. They set her up with the hottest fashions, hired people to show her how to dance, hired real musicians to write songs for her, insert a healthy dose of marketing, and PRESTO instant star.
Brittney Spears sold her soul to the devil to become popular. Guess what? Now she's popular. Her face is going to be crammed into every possible place there's room for it. Brittney CD's, Brittney shirts, Brittney handbags, Brittney TV shows, Brittney backpacks, it goes on and on. I'm completely sick of it.
That's why I bash Brittney.

Lets see...the reason why people like to trash Britney Spears is because she likes to hold her 6 month old son on her lap while she is driving and carelessly walk around with him to the point he is almost dropped on his head.
First of all, these people know that they are putting their entires lives out there for their career. If they didn't like the fact they were going to be talked about, they shouldn't have done it. Secondly, they do stuff that is crazy, like be so high you pass out at a red light, get into fights with your soon to be ex husbands girl, whatever. Third, it is entertaining and people love to be entertained!

Those people are the kind that young girls look up too. Sometimes they act trashy and people look down on that and they even dress trashy to show off super bodies which is why there are girls scrafing and barfing all over. Alot of em' come off as dumb too w. the decsions they make. When you're in the eye of the public you should be a little more careful with what you do and say because it'll come around to bite you in the ***. Besides, people like BS lack class anyway.

Goes with the territory. If you're good at something, there's two ways you can go with that. Be famous, or be paid. ( No you don't have to sacrifice your honor. ) You're talking about a population that is easily led by the nose, has no moral convictions, 'goes with the flow' as they so often like to put it, talks a lot but nothing behind the words, lorded over by a contemptuous, corrupt officialdom, and lacks any real courage. Hence; pleasure seeking. Okay. Bread and circuses. Do you think I'm being unfair when I say your question is illogical?

I don't 'trash' them myself, but I don't approve of singers/actresses or whatever that encourage very young people to think of sex as the only outlet for their energy, and that seems to be the message most of the Britneys of our put out. It is completely possible to sing well, dance well and be fully dressed too, and it's more acceptable when your audience is young and impressionable. I think celebs like Britney (and others) should be held responsible for what their images say to the young. I do not think it's necessary for a 2nd grader to be 'sexy'. Look at that poor child in Colorado, her parents dressed her up for 'beauty pageants' and made her look and act like a tart. That poor baby was just a child, and never got to BE one. They grow up fast enough. And you're right, if more parents paid attention to their children (their own lives) and left the other stuff go, the kids wouldn't have to look to TV for role models!

Britney's asking for it. So are Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Don't get me started on Tom Cruise. If you're going to be ignorant and ridiculous, don't do it in public. Britney married that useless waste of humanity and insists on parading him around in public. She gained tons of weight, during and after both of her pregnancies, but she insists on wandering around in public wearing minimal clothing and looking like something the cat dragged in. And the baby-dropping antics don't help! If you are going to be a celebrity, and therefore in the public eye, then learn to dress and behave accordingly because you know that people are going be trying to photograph you. Just because you are an idiot doesn't mean that you have to let the rest of the world know about it.

I agree. People like to down other people (even if they don't know them) just to make themselves feel/look better. I never understood that. I also hate people that like to kick other people when their down. Just can't wait for something bad to happen to you so they can be right there to judge you and talk crap about you. I try to stay away from people like that. What really sucks is, I have a supposed best friend that is just that way!

I think, in general, Americans have become way too obsessed with celebrities and the lives they lead. It's either jealousy, envy, or just a honest nosiness they posses. I guess it's just plain interesting to see how other people live their lives... I think its sad, though. People should be more concerned with their own lives...You know, they are better in England

People have nothing better to do with their time.
there is no direction or solid enough vocation in their lives, and they have low self esteem and some jealousy, and so they judge others - and celebrities are easy targets precisely because they DON'T know them personally
