My genius still sleeps

Unaware of potential

For I never tried.

You can do this thing. A haiku is sort of like a puzzle.
Think of a simple idea you want to suggest in the poem, then write down all the words you can think of that relate to your idea.
Put them down in the 5-7-5 form and you have a haiku.
The good haiku's are full of double meanings and are really
quite elegant, unlike the prosaic lecturing poem I wrote for you.
Have fun with it. They are short enough that you can fool around with all sorts of ideas until you come up with one you like.

Haiku. How hard tis!
Five, then seven, then five, wow!
Simply mindblowing!

I like haikus... a traditional one is about nature, but it is fun to just write them about whatever.

Stinky, nasty shoes.
Sitting in the corner. Yuck.
Exterminator!

Haikus can be funny!

Big black kitty cat.
Hungry all the time. Piglet!

You can't have help creating 'original' work. It has to be original. :)
I believe a haiku is in th 5-7-5 format though. Hope that helps.

If you want to write one about the sun, then sure.

The sun shines daily.
It gives me a warm feeling.
It is comforting.

It's pretty simple, and not too good. But hey, it's a haiku.
