Rationalism doesn't sell well politically. It's hard to win political office with a calm, quiet, cleanly-run campaign based on decency and fair play. Additionally, people associate "world peace" with "liberalism", which is a knee-jerk word right now.

It is really quite sad to say but in this world of ours it just isnt likely that someone who is a rational thinker will end up running our country. We tend to vote for the individuals that are like us or extremely unlike us because of what we think they can give us instead of what they can do for our country as a whole.....that is what a human nature is......taking what we can get outta everything......
