I've had bad luck with landlords for the past 3 years. I am currently looking for a new apartment or house but the old landlords will definatly say terrible things about me though I truely have done nothing wrong.

I am in the same boat. Just apply. I have never been denied because of previous apartments or landlords. That I know of, no one has ever contacted my previous landlord. They are more worried about how much you make to see if you can pay rent. They are worried about money and nothing else. I doubt you will even get repairs done that cost over $1. Landlords know this is true but they will not admit to it.

I am a real estate agent (in Australia) and I know that we in most cases take the opinion of the landlords over the tenants. It is generally different if you are renting privatley rather than via an agent. If you are wanting to rent via an agent you might want to make an appointment to sit down and discuss openley what has happened in the past with your previous landlords. Good luck.

As a landlord myself, I can tell you that I definitely take both views into account. If you can defend the terrible things they may say about you, you shouldn't have much to worry about. Also, if you rent from an individual owner as opposed to a rental community, you may have better luck-- most don't check that kind of stuff. Happy house hunting!
