His @ss should have been out of there and this is coming from a huge Yankee fan. It is time for him to go he had a nice run but it is time for him to go. He screwed with the lineup to much in the series and showed A-rod he had no confidence in him. They need Pinnella he would actually get pissed off at them and A-Rod played good in the playoffs under Pinnella.

I think he should have been fired, its like accepting the fact that a bunch of college baseball players not beating a bunch of 10 year old little leaguers......
How do you NOT win with that team???????????

I think you can point to the lineup changes and fairly say that Joe Torre did a HORRIBLE job in the Detroit series. He overmanaged and got outmanaged at the same time.

But do those 2 1/2 games where Joe did a bad job unravel what was clearly a "Manager of the Year" job for 2006 and 11 years of what is one of the great bodies of work with one team.

Don't forget. A-Rod still couldn't hit batting eighth!

I think the Yankees made the right choice, but I also think he is running out of chances.

To think of firing Joe Torre is ridiculous. On an everyday basis Torre has to deal with a team of divas. Every player on that team is a diva. He has no worker bees and no one that will put the team first. A-rod should never have joined the yankees. He does not have the new york mentality and never will. He would have been much better off going to Boston. Sure the media spotlight there is bright...but not nearly as bright as New York. And dont get me going on Pinella....dude's a bum.

Its hard to say. A lot of people are putting the fault on A-Rod, Torre, And even Jeter!
Ive taken this pretty hard- im a huge Yankee fan too and weve been dominating the tigers so WTF?!
I think Pinella will have sumthin to offer, it was him coaching back in the day-- we'll see.

Still love U Yankees- Maybe next year

Should not have been. The Yankees have been to the playoffs all eleven years he has been the manager. Not only that, they won 4 championships, and were in the World Series two other times besides the 4 that they won.

Torre is the best manager in baseball. (this coming from a diehard red sox fan). it takes an experience with a manager like grady little to truly appreciate a good manager. if the yankees fire torre, francona should be fired by theo and the sox should get torre.

but honestly, its the boss that's the problem. It takes chemistry to win championships, not a bunch of high-paid, volatile stars.

I'm glad that the Yankees opted to keep Joe. He offers stability to the majority of his players. It's not his fault that A-Rod is a 25 million dollar mental case. And Sheffield is just mad because his days in pinstripes are over. He couldn't play first base to save his life.

Sweet Lou tried not once but twice to manage the Yankees and failed.

You don't get rid of a guy who took you to the playoffs 11 straight years. That's insane. NOBODY in ANY sport has that kind of track record. It all comes down to pitching and too many big bats. The whole middle of the line up is looking for a HR instead of just trying to get on.

Torre should stay as he is a top tier manager. A-Rod is the problem in NY. He should be moved before he loses any more value.

There are some players who should go first; A-Fraud, Giambi, Sheffield, The Big Eunuch. Torre is too laid back now the Yankees need more aggression. Now GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!
