I fail to understand a society that spends so much money on watching men play with balls. They gave it a name called sports which stands for what? To remain a child your whole life and get paid for it. It makes more sense to pay the teacher who taught your child to read or pay the nurse who saved your life or the policeman who caught the thief who stole your treasured belongings, or the fireman who rescued you from being burnt alive! Really! Tell me what is so great about a bunch of men playing with balls, running across a field back and forth to put that ball into a special receptical and not get stopped or caught? Is it all really all about the man and his never ending need to have sex?

Perhaps unfortunately, what you are paid is not determined by the "true" value of your contribution to society, but by what people are willing to pay for it. Professional athletes have rare skills, and can entertain millions of people. This brings in lots of money from ticket sales and advertising. Good (or at least acceptable) teachers are fairly common, and can only teach a few dozen children at a time, so the cash isn't there for them.

I think sport is more a form of ritualized aggression than anything sexual.

Well, I think you fail to realize that these men practice long and hard every day, have to travel a lot, and regardless of what people may think, it is not an easy job. They have to practice a lot to get that good, and playing basketball and football and other sports is not purely a physical game. If anything it is more mental than physical. But obviously, you never played any of these sports, or if you did, you must not have put your all towards it like these guys do. And honestly, I have no idea where you get teh thing about comparing professional sports to a man's never ending need to have sex. I think that needing sex is not a man's need but a human need. Unless of course you are a monk or a nun.But they are celebrities and celebrities tend to maek a lot of money. Wake up and smell the coffee!!!
