sounds like there is more than you are telling... you are young and have alot of life left.. leave him alone for awhile.. if the s--- doesn't stop then tell him good bye.. if your friendship is/was strong enough.. it will come back to you

I'm in the same situation with my boyfriend. We speak to each other when we actually see each other but we never actually sit down and talk like I do with some of my other friends. He wants an intimate relationship with me but I don't want that. Then when he says that he just wants a friendship, it always ends up being something dealing an intimate relationship. Then when I tell him no he always gets mad at me. We also have both moved on with our lives but this situation hasn't.
My advice to you is to just ignore him. Once you agree to that friendship then it's going to esculate into something more than that and before you know it, you'll be back in the situation that you were in at the beginning.

Since he moved away, I would say to maintain a friendship like penpals, like galfriends of sorts. Just write letters via the postal or via email. Just keep it with the general stuff and don't go into intimacies, or you may begin to run into trouble again.
Rules need to be set and agreed by both of you. I see no harm in maintaining a good friendship - distancewise.

Just because you are unable to have a bf/gf relationship is no reason to give up on a friendship. After all, weren't you friends before the pressures of a "relationship" started?

im confused he wants to stay friends and you dont want to, but yet you miss the friendship that you had. i say keep it simple and chat maybe once a week or everyother week like friends do. just keep it a phone relationship or public place like coffee or lunch.

HOw can you not be friends with someone whom you've entrusted your
children to?! Sounds like you're both acting like teenagers, you can either
be friends or not, theirs no in between. Either you can work out your
problems and never bring them up again or move on and just be happy for
the times you had.

You are in your 30's. If you don't still want to be friends, then you don't have to. Move on.

He doesn't make a good b/f and he doesn't make a good friend. I'd quit wasting time with him and forget about that pact.
