Hey, I we are having dodgeball in my highschool p.e. class lol and I think I just suck at life :X. I mean, I was wondering how I throw the ball. I must be doing something wrong because I can throw it hard and fast with some velocity but I always have it at an angle up in the air and never twards the player.
sometimes it's just airs and ends up me getting plowed by 5 balls or someone catching my throw.
BTW: ( we use volleyballs) * i know- it's pretty OUCH sometimes. :/

Oh and also, If anyone can also tell me, what's an efficient way to catch the balls or tell if it's catchable.
any strategies would be nice too, cause, I usually just pace around till I get ahold of the ball.

How to strike your opponent more consistently.
* The lookaway: Don't look at the person you are throwing at. Either do the lookaway off to the side or ceiling. Or look at another player while throwing. Looking off court, might not be a good idea (you might get plastered), so it would probably be good to look at an opponent that has a ball, and throw at a different person
* The shinsplinter: I like to aim at the shins. Aiming at the shoes tends to make the ball bounce on the ground before it strikes the opponent. Aiming for the knees tends to make the ball go a little too high sometimes--where the opponent can easily catch it.
* The wraparound curveball: I've seen players grip the ball by wrapping their hand and wrist around the ball, and then throwing it for a curve. It can be tricky to master.
I wrote a total of nine types of throws on my blog, check the link below to read the entire list.

haha i like dodgeball
i was offered a job a the ymca to coach a dodgeball team and im like 13
ive never thrown a volleyball for dodgeball but when throwing a big ball, you should hold it up next to your ear and not soo back because then you'll lose control. but then you wouldnt have as much power. also use your whole body. start facing the side and then twist your whole body if you can.
another important thing is when you release your throw-if you throw it too early itll go high and if you throw it too late itll go down
if they keep catching your balls, throw it lower and faster
catching balls in dodgeball can be pretty risky sometimes
dont try catching balls, but if you see a ball coming to you straight to your chest, catch it
goodluck

Step into the throw and follow through. Don't throw high. Though headshots are nice, the are not very good for an effective winning strategdy. Aim below the waste but above the knees, this makes them kind of hard to catch since they can't bring the impact into their stomach. As for catching, jump in the air to eliminate the threat of a ball hitting your legs and if it's comming to fast just either dodge it or try tipping it up to try to catch it.

Hahahaha, don't worry. You don't suck at life that much!
In dodgeball, I always throw the dodgeball like a football kind of. Where you lean back with your arm and step forward into your throw. That's if it's a longer distance. If it's a shorter distance, throw it underhand like girls do in college softball.
Catching the ball is kind of different. You SHOULD NOT move when the ball is coming at you and NEVER take your eyes off the ball, unless you like having half of your face red and sore for about two days. Let the ball go straight for your stomach and cradle it with your arms right as it hits.

I would suggest not throwing the ball as least as possible. When you throw the ball, most people end up concentrating on the ball and get smashed with a billion other balls. Just focus on dodging and only catch the ball if you are absolutely sure you can do it. I remember one time I played, and the ball went right over my head, hit the back board and got me out by bouncing back and hitting me!

Try making your arms stronger, do some push ups, left some dumbbells, and when throwing the ball recall something that makes you angry, and throw it as if you were pissed off!
