hi. i really want to form a band but i don't know what to do. i mean my one friend plays guitar but i'm not sure if she wants to do it. i don't know how to get the word out and have people audition and when i do have the band where to practice. help!

all you have to do is put up a few flyers at your local music stores (like guitar center or H&H or whatever is in your area). have an idea of what you want your sound to be and put that on there. practice spaces are usually available to rent... you'll have to check with your local area. holding auditions... you and your guitarist friend would be able to sit with these people and interview them, listen to them play... you want to make sure the people you're going to bring into your band are compatible with you and everyone else in the band. sometimes this is tricky and sometimes you make mistakes in this arena, but if you can get a good group of people together, you'll have a great time. make sure that everyone knows what the goals of the band are. initially, it might be to write a few songs. then it'd be to get a gig or two. play some shows. play some major venues. open for some big names. tour.. etc... etc...
it's a lot of work, but certainly satisfying when it works.
