I agree that Hot Topic's getting pretty lame. Have you tried just looking for things on ebay? I know it sounds weird, but there's a lot of people with small boutiques and businesses that put pieces up on ebay with the buy-it-now option. It's not the single best place to find clothes, but it's a good place to start.

hey i worked at hot topic for yrs! why do u say its "crappy"?? i do have to say its kinda expenssive. try going online u will find a store or in hollywood blv i know this store but its way to expenssive for me way more then hot topic.

You can find goth clothes on almost any disgruntled grouchy depressed teenager. Mug them and steal their clothes, give them a reason for their crappy attitude.
