I am on pain medication (from knee surgery) and my period is really late. I was on birth control pills before but have been off them for a while due to financial difficulty. I have had sex since off them but have taken a pregnancy test which came up negative. Is it possible for medication to effect your period? Since I had my first surgery it's been about a week late but it's almost a month late now and I'm starting to get concerned. Any help is definitely welcomed.

it is but more often the body is tring to readjust itself to not having synthetic hormones. depending on what one you were using it could take a few monts.

Go take another test. Period can be affected by many things...exercise, weight, nutrition. You know all that. But excessive worry about your period can also make it late. Give your doctor a call just to make sure. best of luck!!! =)

it might be from stress due to the surgery.. were you stressed before the surgery? if not it could be from a lot of diff factors.. talk to your doc about it.. if you think your pregnant get a blood test.. good luck..
