I think its because children are brainwashed into it from an early age. I see it everyday. Luckily my dad didnt like football and my brother and I hate it! I see the zombies every saturday getting drunk at the pub opposite (and I do go out every week!) but then spouting aload of b****** and shouting/fighting etc. Ive tried to like it, I even worked at the stadium for a time for my friends dad editing the highlights, but sadly I couldnt find any! Its sooo boring. Plus I work in a bar and you see sad men sitting discussing really sad things. Can you imagine fans of say, star trek, meeting in the street fighting over who is best the klingons or the humans?!!! Ridiculous. Its obvious some men have nothing else in their lives and thats all they all live for. How sad.

I agree with you! I'm pretty sure though that some guys think that football is so masculine... and they want to be like the players...(they will probably never be like them though - thankfully). And they also like playing with the idea of being in their places... like all the glory and being famous...maybe getting hot chicks...Yeah I know pretty shallow and stupid. But some people like it, and everyone likes different things, so whatever. We've got to accept that. We're different.

1. you dont know how to copy and paste because there is a typo on the 4th to last football. 2. you are bored and have nothing better to do. 3. football is the first thing that popped into your head when you decided to be an annoying ignoramus.

If we knew the answer to that we could probably solve the meaning of life!!!
I don't think it is your upbringing, even though both my parents liked football they could take it or leave it. Me I am obsessed. I think it is your personality. I like the feeling of belonging to a wonderful club and being part of an extended family.
On match days even though I travel the 55 miles or so on my own I know I am never alone, there will always be a red somewhere.
Not every football fan watches the matches in the pubs or even at my first pub match did I drink 1 drop of alcohol. Passion and pride, that's what I showed the rest of the pub. As long as my boys are playing I will be watching.
The Liverbird means everything to me. It's all over my car, my reg is even LFC. MY duvet cover was specially made as they don't make them in King Size, my life is planned around fixtures..
Why? Because it is what I choose. My female friends have all dropped football in the past for one boyfrined or other, but I chose football over men.
I would rather spend £20.00 on a ticket to see Reading in the cup than a night out with my frineds boozing. Now in some peoples eyes that makes me strange. I accept that. No problem with anyone who does not like football. My best friend likes Golf and trtravels to see that. I don't tell her I think she is strange or spouts a load of rubbish just because I don't lke it or understand her passion for the sport.
I embrace all differences. Whether your LFC or even - (coughs) MUFC, I respect you. You love - WHAT YOU LOVE. As long as there is a passion inside you you are alive and that is what makes us human. Differences and tolerance to accept that people ARE different are what sets us apart from the animals!!!
Football - Sports - Life. We all like/love/accept different things. Embrace it! Don't try and understand it.

I see your point. As a football fan myself, it's my one big passion. Aren't you passionate about anything? I don't agree with all those who go to the pub and drowning their sorrows. There are also too many fights in pubs between rival fans. And of course the idiots who think they know everything about the game. Me, I live for watching the game at the stadium. Yeah you get the odd boring game, but what stadium did you go to? I can only imagine it was a lower league team. Here in Northern Ireland, our national team has united people across the "divide". Sure, football has it's ugly side, but that's thanks to the a**holes who ruin it for everybody else. You can be passionate about the game but don't let it dominate your everyday lives

Well I don't see the point in watching it at all, but playing it is good excercise and the thing is I think you sort of answered your question yourself, with the bit about people getting drunk, a lot of people will watch anything when they're drunk.

Sports are an escape from reality for many people. Unfortunately, some people take it to the extreme and it ruins their lives, marriages and relationships with their children, coworkers, etc.
-Many people use it as a social gathering to meet others and as an excuse to drink tons of beer!
-I agree football (soccer) is a very popular sport and many women compare it to the attention Playstation and Nintendo draws their boyfriends and husbands to.
-I personally love football, but I enjoy it with modesty and balance sports with quality time with my family.
