Revolver but John Lennon actually got inspiration from Pet Sounds. He said it was his favourite album. I love Revolver....

Revolver....it's more universal. Pet Sounds had revolutionary production, and it's a great album...but it's still beach music.

I'm not sure...both are awesome examples of excellent production qualities. But I do remember hearing that when McCartney first heard Pet Sounds, he said he thought the Beach Boys had just bettered the Beatles' effort with Sgt. Pepper's.

I think Revolver has a wider musical landscape because it had 3 writers in their prime. For example: George's "Taxman", Lennon's "Tomorrow Never Knows", and Paul's "Got To Get You Into My Life."
I was listening to Heroes and Villains the other day and thought, oh, barber shop... nice in it's way, but...
