Think about modern day U.S. politics. We have so much polarization. Most people seem to vote based on party, rather than the views and qualifications of the politicians in question. Every time a politician messes up, it reflects on his party as a whole instead of just the politician in question, as it should. Writers like Ann Coulter and Michael Moore make millions by writing biased books praising to their own parties and unfairly bashing the opposing party. Washington hoped that by avoiding parties, we could avoid these negative effects, but I guess no one listened.

Isn't it obvious? His Farewell address explains it all. He understood that political parties would eventually mean bitter partisanship - which would stifle those in power from actually serving the common good. Amazing how right he was, yes? That's because we had founding fathers who were GENIUSES....point me to some geniuses in today's government....good luck with that.

DON'T YOU SEE HOW THE COUNTRY IS DIVIDED NOW. IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF PARTY AFFILIATION. NO MATTER WHAT YOU BELIEVE PERSONALLY YOUR AFFILIATION TO A CERTAIN PARTY INFLUENCES YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS.
