Any type of food is fine, I like everything. I would like places under $10 per person for dinner and $6 for lunch.

Stay away from Chuy's. I love to drink there, but the food isn't worth their over inflated prices. Almost within your price range, I would suggest Rafi's. It's on the north side of Broadway, between Maryland and Louise. Mediterranean (I think Lebanese) food done very well! I know they have lunch specials, but I am never around to take advantage of them. I think a Filet Mignon kabob dinner is about $13.00. Chicken dishes start around $8.00 I think.

BTW, having lived in Glendale for 15 years, every May they have a walking tour of restaurants (typically on a Tuesday or Wednesday late afternoon/early evening). It costs $20 and usually has about 20-25 places included for little samplers. I would really suggest that for next year if you are new to the area.

Edit: I almost forgot! If you like Japanese food, but not too traditional, try San Sai on Brand just North of Broadway on the East side. A great variety and dinners average around $8-$9.

FOXY'S on Colorado Street between Central and Brand is good for breakfast, lunch or dinner within the price range you mentioned. (Entree only, beverage not included).

If you want a quick sandwich or snack and a nice setting with outdoor seating available to observe the lively scene on Brand Boulevard, you could try my favorite new hangout LA GOCCIA (in the block above Broadway next to Chevy's Mexican Restaurant, the internet cafe and the big center which includes the CPK, Olive Garden and Sushi Tako restaurants. They have fresh selections and it is almost impossible to spend more than $10.00 there (I know, because they will only take an ATM or credit card for purchases of ten dollars or more.)
