Well, let's see - the farthest west point of any significant size in the eastern time zone would be Ironwood, Michigan, a city of less than 7,000 people in far western Michigan.

From there, the closest eastermost point in the pacific time zone would seemingly be located in far eastern Idaho - maybe someplace like Montpelier, Idaho (pop. 2507).

According to Google Maps, the DRIVING distance between the 2 cities is about 1539 miles. If you could travel in a straight line distance from one to the other might be - I don't know, about a thousand miles?

Probably along I80 since the further north the shorter the distance. It would be about 1430 miles from South Bend, Indiana to Windover, Utah.
