I know that you can't get sick just from a cold temperature, but my husband claims that he got sick because I keep our bedroom too cool at night. He also claims he gets sick when I run a cool air humidifier in the room. Is he just whining or do I need to turn up the heat?

You cannot get sick simply from cold air. You get sick from viruses or bacteria.

That being said, your resistance is lowered in cold air, because when your throat and nose are cold, there is less blood flow in those areas (heat increases blood flow). With decreased blood flow, there are fewer white cells to fight potential infectants, so you are at greater risk.

You can actually get sick from sleeping in a cold air. Especially if you keep your bedroom too cold although the body's defense mechanism should handle it coz it should produce more heat to balance the body's system, but sometimes due to some reasons the body may not be producing the needed energy to transform it into heat...or maybe he lacks some vitamins/nutrients to balance his system which in turn can make him susceptible to get virus from air.

He's just whining. You get sick from germs, not a cool room. If he's sick, he caught a virus.
