It depends if you believe in religion and which one. I am a Muslim, there is a hell for me and believe me you will remember asking this question at some point and think back! He He sorry I am joking!
Do you know how in films and on TV they have ideas of heaven with white angels with blonde hair and swings in the sky and hell has a dark haired devil with a pointy tail and fire well it's nothing like that we can't even imagine it.
My mum told me I should never kill a spider because a spider saved Prophet Muhammad's life. I had obviously stamped on many and sucked millions in the vacuum cleaner by then but she said that those same spiders that I was afraid of when they were tiny will come back gigantic in hell and hunt me down- Nice woman my mother!
Well, thats what Muslims believe. If we don't follow the Quran depending on what we did wrong on Earth eg if you drink alcohol (which Islam forbids) you would have to drink blood etc (A cannibals's idea of heaven) If you throw a stone in hell it takes 70 years to hit the bottom so we ain't getting out!, but if you don't believe in God it may sound funny to you. Not funny to me, even though I have made it sound like a teacup ride.
Think about it seriously you know it makes sense ( I was quoting a Pet Shop Boys song by the way).
What is this world if not some kind of test? Do you seriously believe looking around how the world exists, the planets, people, animals etc that some divine being did not create this? God is testing us to see what kind of choices we make and temptations are there to test us further. People always ask if there was a God why is there so much suffering? Obviously if the world was good, where is the test?
No my friend , unfortunately not a made up thing!
Seriously I am scared as hell.

I believe that there is a Heaven, but if that exists it makes it likely that the opposite sort of place, too. I've heard many theories over the years, about what Hell is and what makes it hellish. The most convincing description, to me, is that Hell is that place in which the souls of the inhabitants are isolated from God, live in an inhuman (degraded, spiritually deformed) state and are surrounded instead by other evil and equally degraded people who are, naturally, horrible to be with.
As to who goes to hell, I'm afraid Michael has it exactly backwards. The only time in the Bible in which Jesus describes the Judgement, he makes it clear that it is our *actions* (such as caring for the poor and downtrodden, the "least of these") that form the basis of the Judgement and not *one word* is spoken about personal religious beliefs in that same set of Bible verses. Now, we all mess up sometimes, and we can mess up pretty royally, but I think that it is within God's power to heal all but the very worst of us who have not one scrap of Good left to work with, which occasionally happens but which I think is rare. In other words, one *really* has to earn that dreaded, one-way ticket.

Hell most certainly IS real. It's not some state of mind, it's not the grave like the Jehovah's Witness say, it is a real place! People do not go there for "being bad", killing somebody, being a homosexual or anything of that nature. The only thing that will condemn a person to Hell is the rejection of Jesus Christ, period. Christ told the story of the rich man and Lazarus, this is not just a parable, this is an actual account of which Jesus is speaking of. Finally if Hell is not real then Jesus came down here and was crucified in vain.
Romans 10:8-10,11
" But what saith it? the word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is m, the word of faith, which we preach; That f thou shalll confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shal believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11. For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

In the Bible, "hell" is a metaphore for that which is outside of "full life," or, "life to the full" from John 10:10. Jesus said "I have come that you might have life and live it (abundantly) to the full." The language is similar to "eternal," or, "everlasting" life. Jesus came to show us how to REALLY live...living life on a different course than the one he sets is "hell." So, one could say "hell" is living this life apart from following Jesus. Rest assured: God loves us so much that God gave us Jesus to show us how to live and will never force us into some mythological pit of fire and torment. We're all good enough at doing that for ourselves.

Its a personal choice.
For me (and I supoose most Jews), there is no hell...only that on earth in which we cause pain and ill-will to others.
For many Christians (my wife, included) its a place where you go when you die and you've been bad.
For some, hell is a tool in which to control the actions of people.
To that, I say: it's your hell, you live in it.

If you believe what the Bible says....you believe there is a Heaven and a hell......You know good and evil, night and day, cold and hot daylight and darkness,if there is an action, then there is an equal and oposite reaction
