When we start the dryer it makes a loud noise and it gives off a burning smell.... is it the belt? if so how do i replace that myself?

This happened to me once too. Is your dryer on top or bottom? The guy changed mine from the bottom and put the dryer on top. Then they opened the dryer itself to find that there are these round things )like a tube) that were supposed to be removed because they held the drum in place but only for shipping. But the belt should be visible when you remove the housing of the dryer itself... the replacement part can be purchased at a hardware store.

Better have a service check -- might be the belt burning -- the drum sits on rubber wheels with the drive belt going around it. Could be a wheel is bad and causing drag on the belt.Could be a couple other things also >> drum felt seal--motor itself--something got past the lint trap and the blower wheel is hiiting it inside the blower housing. Pull it out from the wall and take the back cover off--this is the way to get inside.

This unit is very tricky - you will have to call a technician, sorry !
