If a customer is aggressive or rude you have every right to refuse to serve that customer. Your manager should stand by you on this decision and step in to deal with the customer if they are prepared to discuss the problem calmly. You are a sales assistant, you are there to sell not to take abuse.

Speak to your manager and ask what they recommend you do if you come across the situation again, they should tell you something along the lines of what I have already said.

After being in sales at the mall for a long time and having dealt with many difficult and aggessive customers--I found that most people wanted someone to earnestly listen. Customer was always right no matter what. Most times a customer is aggressive because he/she has encountered problems getting the answer they still do not have. Once a customer realizes you are willing to listen you are the road to being his/her favorite salesperson/assistant.
