i have been pulled over for speeding a couple of times after the incident. (3 to 4yrs later) and the police never said anything about a warrant. i call the courts about the hot check this week and they tell me they have a warrant for something i did when i was 16. IS that something normal.

Well, yes -- you should consider having this taken care of. However, since you were a minor, this file may be sealed and unavailable for normal check, unless the people have access to these types of records. Also, you may be able to get it expunged if you take care of it. You should contact the Court involved and see what the procedure is.

You were a minor when your wrote the check, therefore you were not of age to enter into a binding contract, which a check is. Also, the statue of limitations has expired on the check. Your record for misdemeanors as a minor is supposed to be sealed. I wouldn't worry too much, but look at it this way, if it does show up you will know it is there and you can get it expunged before your next background check.
