The little red Indian boy said to the chief: ‘Chief, how do we get our names’. The chief replied: ‘Well, after a child is born, it is brought to my tepee. I look out the door and depending on what I see at the time, that is the name I give that child. For instance, I might see an eagle in the sky, so I would name the child ‘Eagle that flies high in sky’, or I might see a little deer walk past my tepee, then I would call the child Little Deer. That is how I do it. Now run along home for your tea, Two Dogs F---ing’.

There was probably more than one group of them -- Kennewick Man, for example, does not appear to have been related to later settlers in the area.

We tend to romanticize the Native Americans -- live in harmony with the land, blah blah. Well, it's likely that their ancestors exterminated the mammoths, North American horses and camels, and lots of other ice-age fauna. Not much living in harmony there.

Not so funny is that they were forced to live on small pieces of non productive land, and if anything was found of value on it, the government took it...still going on. They are trying to sell off radioactive wastes from nuclear reactors to the reservations, so that they can bury it and poison their land.
