SEC hands down

2006-10-10 09:42:58 · answer #1 · answered by Mike D 2 · 0 2

While I personally am a Big 10 fan (growing up in Michigan) and have now been inundated with southern culture for the better part of 15 years (SEC). I'd say the best way to answer this question, without just expressing opinions is the facts:

Week 7 USA Today Poll
1. Ohio State (62) 6-0 1,574 - Big 10.
2. USC 5-0 1,461 - Pacific 10.
3. Florida (1) 6-0 1,412 - SEC.
4. West Virginia 5-0 1,398 - Big East.
5. Michigan 6-0 1,358 - Big 10.
6. Texas 5-1 1,240 - Big 12
7. Louisville 5-0 1,207 - Big East.
8. Notre Dame 5-1 1,044 - Independent
9. Tennessee 5-1 1,031 - SEC.
10. Auburn 5-1 958 - SEC.

10 points for #1, 9 for #2, and so on.

Big 10 - (10+6) 16 Points
SEC - (8+2+1) 11 Points
Big East - (7+4) 11 Points
Pacific 10 - (9) 9 Points
Big 12- (5) 5 Points
Independent (3) 3 Points

Thus the answer is Big 10

The deepest conference is the SEC, however none of the teams in the SEC would be elite in any of the other conferences, always with the exception of the Big East. Basically the SEC has about four or five teams that would finish in 2nd or 3rd place in the Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12, or ACC, but I don't think they would dominate in those other conferences.

I'd have to say the SEC. Just because the Big 12 North would have a hard time competing with the Southland Conference right now.

I am going to say the ACC is the best college football conference. A lot of great teams along with a lot of great rivalries make this a big conference to watch for come the start of the season.

Teams like Virginia Tech (Michael Vick's alma mater), Miami, Clemson, Georgia Tech and FSU are just some of the schools in the ACC that the pro's in the National Football League (NFL) often look to for recruitment into the big leagues!

There doesn't seem to be a clear cut best this year, but the Big ten has 2 teams in the top 5, which is surprising.
