they are wrong the reason that myspace was made is for indie music. It was for smaller bands to put music up and have people find them. Then an adversting frim got in to the picture and sold it to kids. the bigger it gets the more the owers make from adversting.
Now it is used for people to find each other, you to find new music, Guys to hit on girls that they think are 18 or over but really they are 12.

Most people who didn't know about it before know about it because child molestors to get in contact with little girls and boys.
It's simply a profile for someone to share whatever they like. It's basically a personalized webpage with a fancy search engine and a lot of features that help people get in contact with eachother. Personal Music for example is really easy to share through the band accounts.
People add people or bands and they are able to post comments. Anyone is able to message anyone unless they are blocked.
