Yeah, so I am looking for a Laptop to buy around the price of 800-1000 dollars. I was looking at both, Dells and Toshiba laptops. Does anyone know which one is better? I mainly want a laptop to connect to the internet and watch movies/listen to music/burn dvd's and music. Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

Both are good, but to me Dell has a best performance. Be sure the price includes all you need, because sometimes they sell you a laptop without the battery.

Watch the paper for Sunday ads at Best Buy, Circuit City, OfficeMax, etc. Cut out the ads for the cheapest ones at each site and compare the features, then buy the best deal for your needs.

For your fairly mild needs, pretty much anything will work.

Some things to think about:

How big of a screen or laptop do you want? Movies are better on a BIG screen, but smaller laptops are easier to carry.

What software do you want to run? If you don't need the hottest, fastest stuff you can save money on an older or slower system.

How much memory? RAM and hard drive? Get as much as you can afford, but don't be too greedy.

How will you connect to the Internet? Direct phone connection? Cable/USB? WiFi? Bluetooth? Make sure your computer supports your choice, and that it will work in your home.

If you are unsure of ANY of these, or kinda new to buying computers, a real store is a smarter choice than on-line is.

Good luck!

Dell.

Never buy Toshiba, compaq, HP or anything of those.

i've heard some of the Sony's are okay but just go with Dell. They have a warranty.

Go with Toshiba. They're a more durable product & they have better customer service.
