Why should the government be the ones to tell us which flower can bloom? Its a mis-understood plant that was made illigal through racial predjudice and ignorance. If only the pot smokers became violent under the influence then maybe we could have ended the prohibition the same way we ended it with alchol through violence. Marijuana isn't for everybody, anyone can abuse just about anything, but for the responsible people out there (which i feel are the majority) should have the right to choose. Its a basic concept that america was suppose to be build under. This plant provides thousands of benefital medical and econmical possiblity that are hard to ignore. Its too bad that our governement doesn't pay attention to statistic and real intelligence anymore.

It dosent make a difference to me,but like youve heard lots of times, its better than alcohol. Who is a violent pothead? However, there should be a legal age just like drinking and it shouldnt be legal to drive under the influence. But what harm is done if your at home and smoking a little(or alot). I dont feel this way about other drugs since those have far different affects than marijuana.

Yes. Because people should have the freedom to do whatever they want provided they're not harming others.

But besides that freedom, marijuana is inherently harmless (depending on how it is consumed, of course) and is not physically addictive. Both tobacco and alcohol are more dangerous than marijuana.

Please see the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws' (NORML) website for more information: http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=5442

I personally believe the laws have not changed because (1) people are ignorant of the facts, and (2) a small group of highly-influential people are getting very rich by keeping thousands of non-violent marijuana users locked up in jail.

Absolutley. If they can legalize alcohol, they should definetly legalize marijuana. It is far less harmful physically, mentally and socially. They (the goverment) will never win the war on drugs, putting people in our jails and prisons at the tax payers expense for marijuana possesion is a huge waste of space and money.

Yes, marijuana should be legalized. But controlled. Like alcohol and cigarettes. I feel that the legal age should be 68 years old. Why, you may ask, well the average geriatric doesn't eat as they should nor do they sleep as they should. Well, marijuana alters that. With one "joint" grandpa will not only sleep, but he will awaken ravished. There should be safeguards in place that will resrtict their activities with heavy machinery but other than that, let them enjoy a joint a day, preverably one before bedtime. .

Yes, because its long term health concerns are not as serious as cigarettes (and it's not addictive), its effect on your ability to function is not as damaging as alcohol, the marijuana drug trade costs too much in time, money and wasted time behind bars.

The only bad thing about marijuana is that when people find out that it doesn't hurt you, they think they've also been lied to about the heavier drugs... hence the theory that marijuana use leads to heavier drugs.

No, but it should not be criminalized either. No law at all should refer to pot, and since it is a weed that grows across most of the midwest, it should simply be ignored. It has no relation to harder drugs short of the fact that it is illegal and drug dealers are the ones who dispense it. If you want to wreck the Coyote economy simply allow us in the US to cultivate it. There would soon be none coming across the border. It is a well known fact that we have learned to grow the very best right here in the good old USA.

*Yeah why not..Half the country is flying high on a daily basis anyways. At least we will know that the legalized marijuana will not be laced with harmful chemicals like it is now.Cause now,do we really know for a fact if what you're smoking is safe unless you grow it yourself? So yeah they should as long as younger children don't have an easier time getting it.*

It should be legalized, but it's too politically motivated. Our country and police could do better things than spend billions going after pot smokers. Take it out of the hands of criminals and they could make even more money taxing it. .

hard question, but it's up to the government. They maybe should just make it available to medical facilities and like prescription drugs should only be used by the patient. See side of drugs for details: "it is a federal offense to distribute this medication other than to the person intended"
