If so, how is owning a zebra different from owning or working with a horse? Whatare the pros and cons of having a zebra?

The fact of the matter is Zebra's are more popular then obviously most people think. here in Scottsdale, AZ there are quiet a few horse owners that have a zebra cross's. they call them zonkee's because actually, a zebra is closer to a donkey than a horse and are being bread with donkeys. they're not harder to train than strung out t-bread and actually, become very friendly toward people. It's, like any animal, how you treat them just you and I which make me think of my favorite quote " I'm as nice as you let me be" dhwilson58. :)

Well you can buy home raised tame zebras now, however their temperment leaves a lot to be desired. They're more stubborn than a donkey and even more so ornery.

I'd suggest not getting a zebra. If you are only looking for something flashy, you can buy a zebra/horse cross. Brown but with zebra stripes.

I do know that Zebras can be trained but it always depends on the individual animal. Did you know that the animal in the old "Mr. Ed" tv show was actually a zebra. Apparently the first horse they used had trouble hitting many of his cues, so a zebra was brought in, touched up with white shoe polish, and was used in almostr every episode. You can get confirmation on this at Snopes.com under the modern myths category.

they're right. why do u want a zebra? they're wild and will be hard 2 tame. if it's from the wild, it'll be tramautized and you can get hurt. if u just want 2 be different, then buy an uncommon breed of horse or a different colored horse. go with a horse, because zebras are crazy!
