Is it unhealthy to use cardboard applicators?
I don't use them, I'm just curious.
My sister does and I am wondering if it is unhealthy.

Tampons are unhealthy because they prevent vaginal cleaning functions, dry out the vaginal walls causing splitting, give bacteria a pores environment to multiply upon, and in the case of commercial tampons they also introduce chemicals into the vagina.

Applicators themselves are not unhealthy, just unnecessary and an added problem to the environmental impact of tampons – 12,000 tampons per women in her lifetime, commercial tampons only use 30% of trees harvested, don't use organic cotton, use unnecessary chemical treatment that pollutes and manufacturing methods use extra energy.

Not unhealthy at all. the Cardboard applicator is just a way to get the tampon in, it isn't supposed to stay in there.

I've used cardboard applicator tampons for over 15 years and never had problems of any kind. I can't imagine in what way they would be unhealthy.

It's not unhealthy...Cardboard applicators have been around longer than the plastic ones. It might be a little more comfortable to use the plastic ones though.

It is not 'unhealthy', no.

Unless
1. The applicator is not clean
2. The applicator is (for some odd reason) left in there

PS - The person who posted above me needs to check her 'facts'.
She is highly incorrect and innaccurate.
Please do not pay any attention to her rubbish....honestly her 'information' is incorrect and thus misleading.

She probably just doesnt know how to use tampons, and so speaks badly of them LOL

It's not unheathly actually it's easier to use a tampon with an applicator than with out but if it really bothers u, talk to ur sister about using a tampon with a plastic applicator. I'm sure if she tries it she'd stick to it because personally i find plastic more comfortable to insert. And if ur wondering, a plastic applicator is not unheathly either. Praises to the person who thought of the applicator! :-) ... (Hope i helped!)

It isnt unhealthy, the applicator is merely a tool to insert the tampon.

why do you think it's unhealthy? I can't think of a reason why this would be the case. As long as the packaging plant is doing their job, there should be no contamination of either kind.

nah. The plastic ones are more comfortable, but no, there's nothing wrong with using the cardboard.

Why not try Always Ultra Thin pads instead? You won't have that "diaper" feeling, and in my opinion, pads are better than tampons because everything can flow out better.
