I don't know if Viet Cong can be used in the singular - doesn't it describe a group of people? And wasn't it a word made up by the Americans, anyway?
Anyhoo...
Ultimately the answer is defend their nation against imperialist invaders.

First of all it would be THE Viet Cong. Otherwise, they were the guerrilla fighters in the Vietnam war who supported the (Communist) North. They were extremely effective against the Americans, having intimate knowlege of the terrain. The Tet offensive- a coordinated attack on Southern cities- was also done by them

if the Viet Cong migrate to the USA they usually buy up seven-elevens from Baja Calif. to the Canadian border. If you ever see one they will be near water without doubt. The people from India have taken over most Motel 8's, and several others.

The National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam (Vietnamese Mặt trận Dân tộc Giải phóng miền Nam Việt Nam), also known as the Việt Cộng, VC, or the National Liberation Front (NLF), was an insurgent (partisan) organization fighting the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) during the Vietnam War. The NLF was funded, equipped and staffed by both South Vietnamese and the army of North Vietnam.

Its military organization was known as the People's Liberation Armed Forces (PLAF). The PLAF were, according to the official history of the Vietnam People's Army, strictly subordinated to the general staff in Hanoi. Their name "Việt Cộng", (VC) came from the Vietnamese term for Vietnamese Communist (Việt Nam Cộng Sản) and was popularized by the South Vietnamese government in an effort to downplay the NLF's role as a truly national, not simply communist organization. American forces typically referred to members of the NLF as "Charlie", which comes from the US Armed Forces' phonetic alphabet's pronunciation of VC ("Victor Charlie").
