I was in the same boat as you. I was on the pill for 5 years and am usually very irregular. Once I got off the pill, my periods were coming 2 or 3 times a year. I finally went to see a fertility specialist. In the beginning, she put me on a medication called Provera (not to be confused with depo). This didn't cause me to ovulate, just to "bring my period down" since I didn't have it for so long. I took Provera for 5 days and my period came down. She put me on this for 3 cycles. After that, she put me on other meds like Metformin (for my PCOS) and I was on clomid. The Met actually got me to ovulate, granted, it wasn't regular, but it was more regular than before (maybe 38-45 day cycles). 8 months after she prescribed the Met, I conceived.

Good luck!

You ovulate before you have a period. Most docs suggest using alternative methods of birth control until you've had a couple of periods off the pill so they accurately date your pregnancy.

well, you don't need your period to get pregnant. You ovulate (which means you can get pregnant) before you get your period. So even though you have not had one, it doesnt mean you can't ovulate. Chances are you were ovulating before you started birth control, it was just not regularly, which is why your periods were irregular. There is still a chance for you to get pregnant without monthly periods, its just harder to time out when you are most fertile.

Taking birth control pills stops ovulation. If you have stopped taking the pills, chances are that you will ovulate soon and better your chances of conceiving. Good luck, hope you'll be a good parent.

Just wait it out. That happened to me, too. You will get your period eventually. It takes your body a while to adjust to not being on the pill sometimes. If you don't get your period after 2-3 months, I would go to the Dr. to see what's going on. Good luck to you!

Yes, you have to have your period to ovulate.

See a doctor to address why you dont have your period.
You could have PCOS symptoms and there is medication you can take to regulate your period and get pregnant.

Good luck.
