Gas prices will only drop is one thing happens.
American consumers simply need to stop buying it... Since that is not going to happen any time soon we need to recognize that every single product in the market place has the price of gasoline (or other oil product) in it; production, transport to distributors, and retailers, and we pay for it again when we go to buy the products. We treat it as a commodity, but it really means far more to our economy, and our lives than any other commodity.
We, as Americans, and a global society need to demand that alternatives to oil based fuel burning engines for our transportation. Hydrogen, maybe. Hybrids, headed in the right direction, but only buy time.
I'm not sure what the answer is. It may drop again, but it will surely raise again after memorial day.
Good luck with this one!

OPEC is in the process of trying to cut production, in an effort to stop the drop. Personally I hope they fail, but if supply meets demand, you'll see the price stabilize.
As of today, they are still falling, so you might see 1.50! But it is really too soon to say for sure.

I live in KC and they have already dropped dramatically. Where I live it is down to $ 1.91 a gallon. Since elections are coming up I assume they will keep going down for awhile!
