Very good question. I believe that we can be owned by computers, alcohol, and televisions among some of the things. Come to think of it pretty much everything we own can one day own us if we are not careful.

Rock on!

Oh man, yes. My husband and I and 3 cats require at minimum, a large 3 bedroom house - for all our stuff. He has boxes and boxes of 'memorabilia' (he's a cliche junkie) and I have that much in clothes! Plus our exercise machines, and our books (23 boxes right there, not counting the trunk of his car is full). I can't imagine what will happen to all that stuff when we're gone, we've got no kids and no one in their right mind would want my old clothes or his graduation gown from 1984!

grest question!! the more things you "own " the more you need to do and spend in the upkeep of these items. so yes in a matter of speaking it is possible that if you can very easily live beyond you means if you are doing everything you can to buy and repair and keep the very things you have.

No they can't. However, the things that your credit card companies own most certainly can.

When you're working to pay just the minimums, you are officially owned.

Ponder this then: people go and spend money to get a pedigree dog (like myself). They pay big bucks for shots, tags, etc. They have to go to work to make money to pay for all this and buy us delicious food (OK. So we're not so finicky).
We do not work. We do not do anything except sit around, sleep, eat, play, sleep, eat, bark, look cute.
Who owns who?

Yes. It's very difficult to downsize one's possessions.
Society has taught us that more is better, and not just one of an item, but several of the same thing.

If we become obsessed with them yes, they can take over our lives.
Also if we get too dependent on them we will not know how to live without them.
