Is this legal or illegal...if you just want a copy and your friend lent it to you. you don't plan to sell it.

The only time you can legally make a copy of a CD is for your own backup or use. It doesn't matter if you don't sell it. The record company is still not making any money on the copy which it would if your friend bought it.

What if you made a record and sold one copy and then that person gave a free copy to everyone. Could you live on the dollar you made?

Unauthorized copying is illegal, even if no money changes hands, unless it's for backup purposes. But don't worry about it. Nobody will come after you unless you're selling copies in quantity.

It's not legal but millions do it so your pretty safe as far as not getting caught .

i was always told as long as no money exchanges hands it's legal.
