Medical Examiners are MDs. I assume that they do a residency in forensic medicine or some related subfield.

You would need to be pre-med and then later you can have a minor or other studies in pathology, microbiology, or other medical-related fields.

You have to be an MD, so you have to go to Medical School, and focus on pathology.
