i watched this discovery channel thing. crap, what's that guys name, the survival guy. les stroud or something... anyway, he does these shows where he puts himself in survival situations and actually survives them and shows you how. he did one where he was lost at sea. this guy really knows what he's doing and he was saying that lost at sea is one of the worst situations you can be in. he had a life raft with a canopy and a rain catcher for water. he eventually washed up on some tiny desert island and ate conch (or whatever they're called in those shells) and distilled ocean water in a container that had washed up on shore with some seaweed in it, a plastic cover, heat from the sun and another smaller container inside to catch the freshwater drips. there were all kinds of bugs and pests. it sucked but he was talking about having to live that way for a while. basically you would just have to wait to be found.
