Yes they did. It was the Moors (rather than the Arabs) that invaded Spain in the early Eight Century AD. Cordoba became the centre of Islamic Spain, reaching its height of power in the 10th Century. The city was renowned for its learning.
What Islamic scholars did was to rediscover the ancient Greek texts on many subjects, not just medicine, and build upon these.
It was via Spain that this knowledge was reintroduced to the rest of Europe in the Middle Ages.

I reckon they did. I've read something about Katherine of Aragon when she was a child - before she came over to England - and there was something mentioned about the Arabs. It was way back in the late 1400s, about the time of the Crusades. Katherine's parents, Isabel and Ferdinand, were basically waging war on the Arabs cos their religion wasn't Christianity. The Arabs were driven out of Spain, and they left their knowledge behind. I think.
There's something else too. It's from fictional history, but was based in fact. Apparently Anne Boleyn called upon an Arab doctor to assess the sex of her unborn child at some point in her marriage to Henry VIII, because he was the best in his trade. So from what I've read, the Arabs almost definitely improved medical knowledge in Spain, and probably England too.

When the Moors ruled most of Spain about six hundred years ago they were far more advanced than Europeans in the treatment of illness. When Richard the Lion Heart was ill in Palestine his enemy Saladin sent his own physicians to help him.The Arabs understood the necessity for cleanliness and opiates for the relief of pain..

The Moors and Arabs introduced isolation hospitals, anaesthetics and a host of chemical medicines (the word 'chemical' comes from Arabic). They were far in advance of W Europe at that time
