It's an old saying. No one can truly expect the unexpected. It's like a wake up call. It's like telling you to pay attention in a class where you think you already know everything because you may miss something (it means you don't know everything).

Reminds me of a Bushi-do philosophy. Keep death on the mind to live a better life.

Yes it would. Unless you didnt know what to expect with the unexpected so ended up having something unexpected happening anyway.

It means to prepare for the unexpected. kinda like saving money for when an emergency happens. We all know unexpected things are going to happen, so all we can do it plan ahead and live our lives so that when the event happens, total chaos does not follow.

Hmmm...

After Inspector Specter of the Suspicious Specters, inspected the suspect expectations of the Spectating Inspectors of the Unexpected, the unexpected expectations that were expected were suspect upon inspection, and were rejected as expected.

no because even tho' you're "expecting it" you never know what it is until it arrives.

example preparing for a "rainy day" by saving money. you know the rainy day is eventually going to come and you know you're probably going to have to part with some of the savings but you don't know until it happens what unexpected cost arrives, ie, new tires/brakes, medical emergency/accident.

No, the event would still be unexpected.

Follow this example:

expect rain, get snow. The snow (event) was unexpected.
expect rain, get rain. The rain (event) was expected.

expect the expected (get rain), get rain. The rain (event) was expected.

expect the unexpected (unknown), get rain. The rain (event) was unexpected.

The unexpected event (even if expected) will be unexpected.
