For those of you who have had miscarriages, if you miscarry do you usually bleed right away when it happens. Or can it take a while for your body to bleed it out. Also how long after the baby stops growing would it take for the hormone to leave your body?

That's hard to say because every woman is different. I had a miscarriage at 16 weeks and I wrecked my car 2 weeks and 2 days later, at the hospital they did a blood test and tried to tell me I was pregnant, so for me it took a while. I also bled for about three weeks afterwards, not a lot but enough to resemble a period. Sorry for your loss :(

For many women, the first they know of a miscarrage is the bleeding, or the lower abdomenal pain.

If things happen in the later trimesters of pregnancy, the things people notice, is for early miscarrages, and also the baby stops making movenments (this is why the midwife always asks if the baby is kicking).

Sometimes though, some people are not aware of this at all, and have a still birth (horeible thing to go through unfortunoutly).

The time taht the hormone hCG can still be detected in the urine (how most home pregnancy tests work) is dependant on the stage of pregnancy as it is not really in huge amounts in the later stages.

The best thing to do is to see a doctor if you have concerns. They will be able to examine you, perhaps do an ultrasound and a intimite examination (but this should only be done if it really needs to be).

Hope that helps.

I knew I was having a miscarriage because I woke up and I was bleeding. I went to the hospital right away. After being in the hospital for about 5 hours they told me my hormone levels were about 125. They should have been in the thousands! After a week my levels were at 0. The hormone levels should decrease by half every 72 hours.

from personal experiance i had a miscarriage, then about 5 days later i started to bleed. The Dr told me when i went for an ultrasound that they couldnt find a heart beat and then scheduled a DNC. It was 5 days later for the surgery. About 4 hours before surgery i began to bleed. The hormone can be there for a few weeks after miscarring. Thats what i have been told by my dr she told me i couldnt get ad accurate pergnacy test for a month.

well i was preg and i went in for my usual checkup...but before that i was having minor cramps...people and my doc's office told me its from the baby growing...stretching is what they said but it was just weird. I guess before i went it i had this weird feeling and when my doc tried to listen to the heart beat it wasnt there. but anyways as you know i had a miscarriage. My doctor said i had a choice of waiting for it to bleed or do a surgery. I chose the surgery. I didnt bleed at all afterwards which is good. But then i had some infection so i had to do the surgery again....not a very fun event around that time

but it really depends on you...everyones different

I lost a baby last july and it took me about 2 mounths to get back to norm. It is a hrad thing to deal with. and with your body still going throught the hormon change. It took me about 2 mounts.
But the bleeding could pass the the embreo fast my mother passed hers abuot 4 hours after she stated bleeding . but I lost mine about 3 days in pices. You should really sit with your Doc's and talk to them about it. they will no better because they know your case. Wish I could help you more.
Best of luck

I DID NOT KNOW...I THOUGHT THAT I HAD THE FLU.
LOL
I HAD A PERIOD FOR THE 1ST 2 MONTHS OF 3 OF MY BABIES.
YOU ARE NOT A BAD MOTHER TO BE IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE MOMENT YOU ARE PREGNANT. YOU START OBSESSING ABOUT IT AND YOU GET DEPRESSED AND THAT WILL STRESS YOUR BODY OUT. RELAX AND ENJOY
EACH OTHER AND WHEN IT HAPPENS...IT HAPPENS.

Don't you think you should ask this questions to a doctor?
