Put the items on the lawn when no one is watching. Maybe they'll notice them before the family pet or child comes out and chews on or buries the items.

Be up front, since honesty is the best policy and admit your wrong and ask for forgiveness. If you are too embarrassed to do this, then opt for plan to. Make an excuse to return to the home to check your work, ask to use the restroom and place the small items back in a place where they will be found sometime after you leave, like the hamper, linen closet or behind the toilet. Oh, and don't leave any fingerprints on them otherwise all this cloak and dagger would have been for naught. Is this person someone you know as a friend or just a client? If you still feel guilty do some more work pro bono.

If you can't face them, just put everything in a package and leave it at their door or mail it to them anonymously.
They'll probably figure out it was you anyway, but will appreciate that you at least returned them the items.
If you feel you can face them, bring their things back to them and apologize for your dishonesty.
One way or the other, you probably won't get any more business from them or any positive recomendations to their friends, but at least in the end you were honest and faced your demons and will be able to sleep at night with a clear conscience.
Whatever you do, don't tell them the reason you just told us of why you stole the items - it will make it worse.
Good luck!

Kill every person involved.
Then, kill any extended family they may have.
Kill the people who made the items, and any one that they are related to, or know.
Sense you stole it from a house, you have to get rid of the builders of the house, and any one that lives on the same street.
You should kill all of their families as well.
One can never be too sure.
Just for good measure kill everyone you know, or have ever met as well.
Use gloves, maybe get a box of them.
Once every one is dead then you will be able to get on with your life because nobody will be able to ever challenge the fact that you stole.
Or...
Just look in the mirror and call your self an idiot, start wearing girls panties, and never leave your house again.

You do not say who it was friends ,family, you know you did very wrong, you have two options, either to come clean and return the items. Is there no chance you could go back and just replace them, maybe if they were small no one would notice otherwise, they may put two and two together and work out it was you. You know in your heart of hearts what to do

Even if you are embarrassed I think that you should return the items. If you just cannot face them do it while they are not home...leave them out for them to find. You will never lose the guilt if you do not....good for you to make good on your bad!

Go straight to the house and hand them over the stolen items and tell them the reasons for stealing, remember in a polite and pleading manner. The house owners may pardon you if they are people with compassion and understanding or they may thrash you for stealing which youare anyway liable for. It depends on your luck.

Go at night and put the stuff on their porch. You should have told them before you did the extra work that it would be extra. Next time you'll know what to do. We learn from experience. Good luck and God bless!

Mail them back, with a note of apology. Then flee the state.

Be mature about it, go to them to return what you took (while they are home), and tell them the truth about why you took what you did--apollogize, hope they don't press charges, and NEVER do it again.
