essentially all lil kim really wants is attention. with all the hoopla surrounding afghanistan and iraq, north korea seems to want some attention too. what better way to get it than telling the world you got some nuclear toys. since lil kim is crazy and power hungry, I assume he would have NO problem shooting this thing off into south korea, japan even china. to do so even he would recognize would be suicide as every surrounding country in that region would undoubtedly raise up and kick the crap out of him. yeah he has a big army of about a million or so but if you look at the geography of the place, it's a peninsula. esentially a giant wang sticking out into the ocean bordered by lots of people able and willing to invade his country making that million or so army irrelevant. with our sea power and air strike capablilty, north korea would be a barren landfill after our attacks from both the south, east and west of that area. since china isn't too happy about them having these toys either, they MIGHT come in from the north. so kim would be surrounded on ALL fronts and death would be inevitable. assuming he would shoot it at south korea or japan first, that leaves a lot of devastation in the wake and 1 minute after the nuke gets launched, so do our planes and warships. if he does release then he'll get all the attention he wants and then some.

The blast will almost certainly expose a previously undiscovered gold reserve. North Korea will then flood the market with cheap gold to fund their continuing military build up. This cheaper gold will undermine the economies of member states of the European Union, throwing Europe into a severe recession and lowering the demand for oil. This lower demand will cause the price of oil to tumble to $15 a barrel, increasing demand for gas-guzzling Detroit behemoths and sending large SUV sales through the roof. These new vehicle sales will be accompanied by the installation of Sirius Satellite radio and the requisit subscription, sending the stock price of Sirius from $4 a share to $35 a share which would make me approximately $3 million... thank you

It's possible that millions more North Koreans will starve to death. NK already relies on other nations to feed it. Rather than spending its meager wealth on its own people, NK pursues expensive technology. If the blast proves to be nuclear in origin, most nations will back sanctions against North Korea. This will likely slow down or eliminate at least part of the humanitarian aid that feeds the people there. The megalomaniac leader gets to strut on the world stage, however briefly, while his people are sent to an early grave.

Of course there is always the potential for war. But that is only one facet. If they didn't do a good job setting up the containment for the test, there could be radioactive fallout in both the air and the water table which could be disasterous for not only North Korea but the surrounding countries.
Now that they have nukes, the threat that someone could steal them or that they could sell them to another country that wants to go to war becomes a major risk for the world

Well potentially WW3. N. Korea is backed by China. China is the #2 world power. If N.Korea were to gain better technologies and attack American allies that could lead to an all out war. The U.S would be forced to defend its allies, just as China would.

We need to take a tough stand on this as the ruler of N. Korea is nuts. This is an important moment and we need to get the world involved and get rid of him. He has starved his people and is a danger to the world.

The consequences will be that oil companies will pay him to aim his missles at their oil plants. That way they can say that oil reserves are in threat and raise prices to $4 a gallon in the US.
